Palau Saura

‘Palau Saura’ (also known as Can Saura Miret) is a Baroque-style stately house located in the heart of the picturesque historic quarter of Ciutadella de Menorca. It was built between the 17th and the 18th centuries, at the same time as the refurbishment works of the churches of Santa Maria de Ciutadella, Els Socors and El Roser, all of them carried out by the same Menorcan family Amorós.
Its main entrance hall, central core of the building, hosts the great main staircase, which leads to the huge noble room of the first floor, illuminated by three large balconies.
Some of its most remarkable elements are the gates from the ground floor, the embedded columns and entablatures decorating all external openings, and the majestic central balcony, which is topped by the coat of arms.
Its magnificent baroque façade consolidates the whole set of buildings that were formerly acquired by the noble family.
The building was finally acquired and refurbished by the Ciutadella City Council a few years ago.
